‘Knowledge Is Power’ at Texas Compliance Summit

AUSTIN — Organizers of the upcoming Texas Compliance Summit have confirmed that “Knowledge Is Power,” a panel discussion led by Jim Ganther, president and CEO of Mosaic Compliance Services, will convene at the event, which is scheduled for Nov. 16–17, 2015, at the Hilton Austin Airport Hotel.

“The dealers and dealership personnel we meet in Austin will be there to learn,” said David Gesualdo, show chair and publisher of Auto Dealer Today and F&I and Showroom. “Jim Ganther and his panel will give them a crash course on the current regulatory climate.”

Ganther helmed similar panels in past Compliance Summits in Miami and Chicago, drawing participation from fellow attorneys and compliance experts as well as leading agents. “Knowledge Is Power” is part of the “Rules and Regulations” portion of the agenda and will be the first of three panel discussions. Other topic headings will include “Your Responsibilities,” “Easy-to-Implement Processes and Controls” and, finally, “Is It Compliant?,” an open-forum discussion between speakers and attendees.

More information about Texas Compliance Summit, including the full agenda, will be available soon at the event’s website. Registration is open now. Attendees who register on or before Oct. 26 will enjoy a $100 discount.

Midwest Compliance Summit Promises ‘Can’t-Miss’ Agenda

CHICAGO — Organizers of Compliance Summit, a series of regional events dedicated to front-end compliance, have announced that the agenda for the Midwest event is nearing completion and will feature high-profile compliance experts and thought leaders. The conference is scheduled for April 20–21, 2015, at the DoubleTree Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont, Ill.

“This will be an event to remember for those who attend,” said David Gesualdo, show chair and publisher of Auto Dealer Monthly and F&I and Showroom magazines. “We look forward to bringing the talent, expertise and boots-on-the-ground experience dealers need to tackle this very difficult subject.”

April 21 will feature a full day of sessions divided into four key topic headings: Rules and Regulations, Your Responsibilities, Easy-to-Implement Processes and Controls and Is This Compliant? The last will be an open-forum discussion among speakers and attendees. Robert Harkins, vice president and director of training for AFG Training Academy, will serve as master of ceremonies.

The welcome address, “Dealer Beware,” will be delivered by Randy Crisorio, president and CEO of United Development Systems Inc. (UDS). Crisorio, a Chicago native, is expected to review recent and ongoing actions taken against dealers by state and federal regulators, including the Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

“Having experienced the quality of content exchanged in the first Compliance Summit and the tenor of the regulatory bodies involved in our business, I anticipate a lot of interest in attending and a heavy dose of growing useful information,” Crisorio said.

Further details, including the full agenda and information about registration and accommodations, will be available in the coming weeks. For sponsorship and exhibition opportunities, contact Eric Gesualdo via email hidden; JavaScript is required or call 727-612-8826.

Inaugural Compliance Summit a Hit

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Organizers of Compliance Summit 2014 announced that the inaugural event drew a large, engaged crowd to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., this week.

David Gesualdo, show chair and publisher of Auto Dealer Monthly and F&I and Showroom, said interest in the Florida conference, which will be followed by events in the South, Midwest and West in 2015, exceeded all expectations.

“We had confidence in the regional model, our agenda, our speakers and the high number of early registrations, despite just a few weeks’ worth of advance marketing,” Gesualdo said. “We could not have anticipated the number of on-site registrants, nor the high levels of energy and interaction we saw from the entire group. The speakers and attendees showed up, rolled up their sleeves and got to work. It was inspiring.”

Compliance Summit began Monday afternoon and concluded with a reception on Tuesday evening. The agenda covered front-end compliance issues specific to the State of Florida as well as a comprehensive review of rules, regulations and recent actions from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Speakers included attorneys, dealership personnel, agents and trainers, as well as Ted Smith, president of the Florida Automobile Dealers Association (FADA).

“The speakers were very good and the attendees took home a myriad of information and best practices,” said Smith, who presented “Barbarians at Your Gate,” a stirring luncheon keynote, on Tuesday afternoon.

Organizers said the next regional event will likely be held in Texas early next year. Stay tuned to ComplianceSummit.com for updates on the 2015 events.
